(Support according to the 5-phase concept)
Phase 1: Establishing contact & process planning
In this first phase, we clarify the individual adoption history together,
discuss expectations and formulate concrete goals. Together we determine the next steps and shape the further course in such a way that personal resources are strengthened and personal responsibility for the process is encouraged.
Phase 2: Document search in Switzerland
In this phase, the available adoption documents in Switzerland are systematically researched and carefully analyzed. We work closely with the relevant authorities and coordinate all the necessary steps to ensure a comprehensive set of documents.
Phase 3: Clarifications in Sri Lanka
Administrative inquiries are carried out directly in the country of origin. This includes identifying the person being sought using the original birth certificate and providing advice and information on DNA tests. For this research, My Roots Consulting has its own team on the ground in Sri Lanka, which has extensive experience and a proven track record in provenance tracing. The team speaks the local languages as well as English and German.
Phase 4: Preparation & initial contact
In this phase, we accompany the psychosocial preparation for possible search results and support the cautious establishment of contact with the person being searched for. In the case of a confirmed relationship, we carefully prepare the reunion: This includes preparing the adopted person for the culture and travel to Sri Lanka as well as sensitizing the local family through our team. Support and translation during the meeting as well as follow-up for the families in Sri Lanka are also provided.
Phase 5: Follow-up & evaluation
We provide support in processing the search results and accompany the processing of the new findings from the search for origins. We help them to come to terms with different identities or the situation of having two families. We also support the careful establishment of a sustainable contact and evaluate the personal situation together. If required, we can also help with statements or inquiries to cantonal authorities.
